Full Product Description

Litter ends up outside the box because the walls are too low and the cat digs. The PerriPaws High-Sided Litter Box has deep semi-enclosed walls and a jumbo grid step at the entrance, so the litter that leaves the tray gets knocked off the paws before it reaches your floor.

Which Size?

The dropdown gives the colour and the size together. Here is what the three sizes mean:

  • L: the square tray, rated to hold up to 12.5 kg (27 lb) of litter.
  • 23.6 × 15.9 in, the rectangular tray, 60 × 40.5 × 25 cm overall, 40 cm of clear width inside.
  • XL: the largest square tray, rated to hold up to 20 kg (44 lb) of litter. This is the one for a big cat or a deep litter bed.

Why Pet Parents Love It

  • High walls, open top: Semi-enclosed gives your cat privacy and stops the spray, without the closed hood that a lot of cats simply refuse to walk into.
  • Jumbo grid step: A wide ridged pedal at the entrance takes litter off the paws on the way out.
  • Room to turn around: 40 cm of internal width on the rectangular tray, enough for a large cat to turn and dig without hitting the sides.
  • Wipes out in one go: Smooth PP with rounded internal corners, so there is no seam for litter to pack into.
  • Eight colors: Mint Green, Cream White, Cheese Yellow, Obsidian Black, Cloud Gray, Roman Gray, Beige and Cherry Blossom Pink.

Size & Fit

Getting the size right.

The option list gives colour and size together. The three sizes are:

  • L: square tray, holds up to 12.5 kg (27 lb) of litter
  • 23.6 × 15.9 in, rectangular tray, 60 × 40.5 × 25 cm overall, 40 cm internal width
  • XL: largest square tray, holds up to 20 kg (44 lb) of litter

A cat should be able to turn around fully inside the tray without touching the walls. As a rule of thumb the box wants to be about one and a half times your cat’s nose-to-tail-base length. If you are choosing for a large breed, a Maine Coon or a cat that stands up to dig, take the XL.

Measurements are taken by hand and the manufacturer allows a small tolerance.

Product in Action

See it working.

High walls and an open top. Your cat gets the privacy and the spray containment of a hooded box without the hood itself, which matters, because a lot of cats simply refuse to walk into an enclosed one. Forty centimetres of clear width inside, so a big cat can turn and dig.

Construction

Look closer at the shield.

    Tall scatter shield

Smoke-tinted panels run high on three sides, so what a determined digger kicks up hits the wall and drops back into the litter.

  • Close-up of the low front entry and its textured step

    Low front entry

The front stays low and open, with a textured step that takes some of the litter off the paws on the way out.

PerriPaws vs Others

Tall sides, open top.

Hooded boxes trap the smell in and put cats off. A bare pan lets the litter out. This is the middle answer.

Why It Works

High where it matters, low where it counts.

Enthusiastic diggers send litter clean over the side of a normal pan. Tall clear panels on three sides catch it, while the front stays low and open so getting in is nothing to think about.

  • Tall scatter shield keeps kicked litter inside
  • Low, open front entry with a textured step
  • No lid to lift, so scooping takes seconds
  • Larger sizes give room to dig and turn around
  • Molded PP and PVC plastic, washes easily
  • Six colors and three size options

Every point above comes from this product's own specification.

How to Use

How to use it.

1

Fill it deep

The XL tray takes up to 20 kg of litter, the L up to 12.5 kg. High walls only earn their keep if the litter is deep enough to dig in.

2

Mind the step

Position the tray so the ridged grid step is the way out. That is the part that takes litter off the paws before it reaches your floor.

3

Scoop daily, wash weekly

Rounded internal corners mean nothing packs into a seam. Once a week, tip it out and wash with warm water and an unscented detergent.

Ready when you are.

Care & Cleaning

How to keep it in good order, as the manufacturer states it.

Weekly

Tip the litter out, then wash the tray with warm water and a mild unscented detergent. Rinse thoroughly: cats avoid a box that smells of cleaning product.

Never use

Bleach, ammonia or pine cleaners. Ammonia smells like urine to a cat and will teach them to go elsewhere; bleach and PP do not get along over time.

Dry before refilling

Litter clumps onto a damp tray and then sets hard in the corners.

The grid step

Lift it out and rinse it separately. It is the part that collects the most.
