Washing
Dishwasher safe, top rack. By hand, warm soapy water and a brush into the grooves; silicone releases dried food much more easily than plastic does.
Freezing
The mat is rated for freezer temperatures, so you can load it and freeze it solid. Let it sit a minute or two out of the freezer before your pet starts, so nothing sticks to a cold tongue.
The suction cups
They only grip a smooth, clean, slightly damp surface. Wipe both the tile and the cups first, dust is what makes suction fail.
