Full Product Description

Turn a plain crate or hard floor into a cozy resting spot. The PerriPaws Shag Plush Crate Pad has a thick, fluffy tufted top that is soft to curl up on.

Why Pet Parents Love It

  • Fluffy shag surface: Long, soft plush with tufted stitching.
  • Crate-friendly shape: A flat rectangular pad that fits crates, carriers and beds.
  • Five sizes: From small pets to large dogs.
  • Four soft colors: Dark Gray, Light Gray, Light Brown, Peach Pink.

Size Guide

  • XS: 17.7 x 11.8 in (45 x 30 cm)
  • S: 23.6 x 17.7 in (60 x 45 cm)
  • M: 27.6 x 19.7 in (70 x 50 cm)
  • L: 35.4 x 23.6 in (90 x 60 cm)
  • XL: 39.4 x 31.5 in (100 x 80 cm)

Suggested pet weights range from about 5.5 lb on the smallest pad up to about 77 lb on the largest. For crates, match the pad to your crate floor measurements.

Size & Fit

Getting the size right.

The manufacturer sizes this by pet weight, which is unusually useful for a flat pad:

  • XS: 45 × 30 cm (17.7 × 11.8 in), pets up to 2.5 kg (5.5 lb)
  • S: 60 × 45 cm (23.6 × 17.7 in), pets up to 5 kg (11 lb)
  • M: 70 × 50 cm (27.6 × 19.7 in), pets up to 7.5 kg (16.5 lb)
  • L: 90 × 60 cm (35.4 × 23.6 in), pets up to 15 kg (33 lb)
  • XL: 100 × 80 cm (39.4 × 31.5 in), pets up to 35 kg (77 lb)

If it is going inside a crate, measure the crate floor and take the largest size that fits flat within it. A pad that curls up the sides bunches under the dog and stops being comfortable.

Measurements are taken by hand and the manufacturer allows a small tolerance.

Product in Action

See it working.

Flat, not bolstered. This is for the dog who sleeps stretched out on their side rather than curled into a ball. Forty millimetres of faux fur pile means they sink into it rather than sit on it, and it drops straight into a crate or lies loose on the floor.

Construction

Look closer at the pile.

A thick rectangular pad with a long shag surface, stitched through in tufts to hold the filling evenly across it.

  • Close-up of the long shag pile

    Long shag pile

Deep, soft fibers that close around a paw instead of flattening under it. This is the part that makes a hard floor tolerable.

  • Close-up of a tufted stitch point in the pad

    Tufted stitching

Stitched through at intervals so the filling stays where it was put rather than drifting into one corner.

  • Close-up of the pad's edge, showing its thickness

    Flat, but not thin

A rectangular pad with real depth at the edge, so it fits a crate floor while still lifting your pet off it.

PerriPaws vs Others

Deep pile, flat shape.

Most crate liners are thin because they have to fit. This one keeps the loft and still lies flat on the tray.

Why It Works

Turns a hard floor into somewhere to sleep.

A crate tray and a tiled kitchen floor have the same problem: nothing soft. A thick shag pad is the cheapest fix, and it goes wherever your pet has decided to settle.

  • Long, soft shag pile with tufted stitching
  • Flat rectangle that fits crates, carriers and beds
  • Five sizes, XS through XL
  • Suggested pet weights for each size
  • Four soft colors
  • Shake it out, then wash to the care label

How to Use

How to use it.

1

Match it to the crate

Measure the crate floor and take the largest size that lies flat inside it. A pad that curls up the sides bunches under the dog.

2

Wash it on its own

A 40 mm pile holds a lot of water and needs the room. Cool gentle cycle, mild detergent, and no softener: it mats long faux fur permanently.

3

Brush the pile back

Air dry flat, then shake it out hard and brush against the lie of the pile. Heat curls synthetic fur and it does not come back.

Ready when you are.

Care & Cleaning

How to keep it in good order, as the manufacturer states it.

Washing

Cool gentle cycle, mild detergent, on its own. A 40 mm pile holds a lot of water and needs the room.

No softener

It is the fastest way to ruin long faux fur, it coats the fibres and they mat permanently.

Drying

Air dry flat. Heat melts and curls synthetic pile, and once it is curled it does not come back.

Bringing the fluff back

Shake it out hard when dry and brush it against the lie of the pile with your hand or a soft brush.

Between washes

Rubber brush or a damp rubber glove pulls fur out of long pile far better than a lint roller.

Why PerriPaws
