The mat first
Lift the base mat out and wash that on its own. It takes nearly all the wear, and washing it is a fraction of the job of washing the whole bed.
The shell
Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent. Do not wring a sponge-filled shell. Press the water out and let it recover its shape.
Drying
Air dry completely, away from direct heat, and stand the hood up while it dries so it sets domed rather than folded.
Between washes
A lint roller or a rubber brush lifts fur off the pile. Shake the hood out to bring the loft back.
