Full Product Description

A flea comb is one of the simplest tools to keep in your grooming kit. The PerriPaws Stainless Steel Flea Comb has closely spaced teeth for combing through fur and checking your pet's coat for fleas, flea dirt, dandruff and small debris.

Why Pet Parents Love It

  • Fine, close-set teeth: Designed for detailed combing near the skin.
  • Stainless steel teeth: Easy to rinse and wipe clean.
  • Two lengths: Small for face, paws and small pets, large for bigger coat areas.
  • Easy-grip handle: Ridged plastic handle with a hanging hole.

How to Use

  1. Comb slowly in small sections, close to the skin.
  2. Wipe the teeth on a damp paper towel after each pass.
  3. Check the collected debris and rinse the comb when finished.

Sizes

  • Small: Approx. 5.5 x 1.4 in (14 x 3.5 cm)
  • Large: Approx. 7.1 x 1.8 in (18 x 4.5 cm)

Good to Know

A flea comb helps you check for and physically remove fleas and debris, but it is not a flea treatment. Talk to your veterinarian about flea prevention.

Size & Fit

Getting the size right.

Two sizes. The teeth are identical on both, 1.8 cm long and equally close-set. Only the handle and the head width change.

  • Small: 14 cm (5.5 in) overall. Easier around a cat’s face, ears and chin, and for kittens.
  • Large: 18 cm (7.1 in) overall, about 6.8 cm of comb head. Covers more ground on a dog or a long-coated cat.

If you are combing one cat, take the Small. If you are working through a dog or several pets, take the Large.

Measurements are taken by hand and the manufacturer allows a small tolerance.

Product in Action

See it working.

Teeth 1.8 cm long and set close enough that very little gets through them. Work in short passes and dip the comb in soapy water between each one. That is how anything you catch is dealt with, rather than being put straight back on the coat.

Common Questions

1.8cm teeth

Long and close-set, which is what a flea comb needs.

Construction

Look closer at the teeth.

A single row of closely spaced stainless steel teeth set into a molded plastic spine, on a ridged handle with a hanging hole.

  • Close-up of the closely spaced stainless steel teeth

    Close-set steel teeth

The gaps between the teeth are narrow enough to hold flea dirt, dandruff and fine debris rather than letting it slip past.

  • Close-up of the plastic spine where the steel teeth are set

    Set into the spine

Stainless teeth anchored in a molded plastic spine, so the row stays square and rinses clean under a tap.

  • Close-up of the ridged grip on the comb handle

    Ridged handle

Molded ridges for grip and a hole at the end, so it hangs with the rest of the kit instead of rolling to the back of a drawer.

PerriPaws vs Others

A checking tool, not a treatment.

It will not cure anything, and we will not say it does. What it does is let you look properly, early, with two minutes and a paper towel.

Why It Works

It shows you what is in there.

Teeth set this close hold on to what a normal comb passes over, loose undercoat, dandruff, grit and flea dirt. Wipe them on a damp white towel and you can see exactly what came out.

How to Use

How to use it.

1

Get a bowl of soapy water

Set it beside you before you start. This is the part most people skip, and it is what makes the difference.

2

Short passes, dip between

Comb a small section at a time, close to the skin, then dip the teeth in the water. Anything you catch is dealt with rather than returned to the coat.

3

Dry it properly

Rinse in hot soapy water and dry the teeth completely, tips down. Stainless steel is rust-resistant, not rust-proof.

Ready when you are.

Care & Cleaning

How to keep it in good order, as the manufacturer states it.

While you work

Keep a bowl of soapy water beside you and dip the comb after each pass. That is how anything caught between the teeth is dealt with rather than being put back on the coat.

Washing

Hot soapy water, then rinse and dry the teeth completely. Stainless steel is rust-resistant, not rust-proof.

Drying

Teeth down on a towel so water runs out from between them.

Storage

Somewhere dry, with the teeth not pressed against anything.
