Product in Action

See it working.

The ridges break one mouthful into a dozen small ones. A dog that clears a flat bowl in seconds has to work around the channels instead, nose first, which is the only thing a slow feeder actually does, and the only thing we are going to claim it does.

Construction

Look closer at the maze.

A shallow PP plastic bowl molded with a spiraling maze of raised ridges, about 8 in across and 1.4 in deep.

  • Close-up of the winding channels between the raised ridges

    Winding channels

Food falls into the gaps between the ridges, so only a few pieces are reachable at a time and the meal has to be worked through.

  • Close-up of the spiral at the centre of the bowl

    The center spiral

The pattern tightens toward the middle, which is where the last of the meal ends up and the puzzle gets slowest.

  • Close-up of the shallow outer rim of the bowl

    Shallow and wide

About 8 in across and only 1.4 in deep, so a flat-faced dog can still reach the bottom of every channel.

Every close-up here is a photograph of the product itself.

PerriPaws vs Others

Same meal, more of it.

Nothing about the food changes. What changes is how long your pet spends on it, and how much thinking is involved.

Why It Works

Dinner takes longer than a minute.

Tip a meal into a flat bowl and some dogs are finished before you have put the bag away. Spread the same food through winding channels and they have to work around the ridges for every mouthful.

  • Raised maze ridges slow each mouthful down
  • Turns a meal into a small puzzle
  • Holds up to 2 cups (16 oz)
  • Shallow at 1.4 in deep, so short muzzles can reach
  • Hand wash or dishwasher
  • For small to medium dogs and cats

Every point above comes from this product's own specification.

How to Use

How to use it.

1

Spread it thin

Scatter the food across the maze rather than piling it in the middle, so every channel has something in it.

2

Let them work

At 183 g it is light but wide enough to stay put. If your dog pushes it around, set it on a mat or against a wall.

3

Rinse it out

Rinse after every meal so nothing dries into the channels. It goes on the dishwasher top rack when it needs more than that.

Ready when you are.

Care & Cleaning

How to keep it in good order, as the manufacturer states it.

Every meal

Rinse it out. Wet food dries into the bottom of the channels and is far harder to shift later.

Washing

Hand wash, or put it in the dishwasher. The manufacturer confirms both. Use the top rack.

Getting into the maze

A washing-up brush or an old toothbrush reaches the tight inner corners that a cloth cannot.

Check it over

PP is food-grade but it is not a chew toy. If your dog starts gnawing the ridges and they crack, replace it.

Why PerriPaws
