Measure around your dog's snout about 1 in below the eyes, and from the tip of the nose to just below the eyes. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure which size to choose. A correct fit sits snugly without pressing on the eyes.

  • This is a loop-style muzzle meant for short, supervised use. It is not intended for exercise, hot weather or long periods.
  • Your dog must always be able to breathe comfortably. Remove it if your dog shows signs of distress or overheating.
  • Never leave a muzzled dog unattended, and introduce the muzzle gradually with treats and praise.

Getting the size right.

Measure two things with a soft tape: around the snout about an inch below the eyes, and around the neck just behind the ears. Both have to fall inside the size’s range.

  • S: snout 24–29 cm (9.4–11.4 in), neck 23–28 cm (9.1–11.0 in)
  • M: snout 26–32 cm (10.2–12.6 in), neck 31–38 cm (12.2–15.0 in)
  • L: snout 29–35 cm (11.4–13.8 in), neck 36–44 cm (14.2–17.3 in)
  • XL: snout 32–44 cm (12.6–17.3 in), neck 40–47 cm (15.7–18.5 in)
  • 2XL: snout 36–46 cm (14.2–18.1 in), neck 42–49 cm (16.5–19.3 in)

If the snout and the neck point at different sizes, go by the snout and take up the slack on the neck strap. If your measurement lands on the edge between two sizes, take the larger one. A muzzle that is fractionally loose can be tightened, one that is too small cannot be made to fit.

Short-nosed breeds (pugs, bulldogs, boxers, shih tzus) are not served by a snout-style muzzle. Their airway and their face shape need a basket muzzle instead.

Measurements are taken by hand and the manufacturer allows a small tolerance.

How to use it.

Measure twice

Take the snout circumference about an inch below the eyes, and the neck just behind the ears. Both have to fall inside the size you choose.

Fit it calmly

Slide the padded band over the snout so it sits clear of the eyes, then close the strap behind the ears. Reward, and keep the first fittings very short.

3

Check and remove

Two fingers should slide under the strap. It must never affect breathing, panting or swallowing. Supervised use only, and off again when you are done.

Washing

Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent and air dry. Nylon webbing dries quickly; the padding takes longer, so give it time.

Check before every use

The stitching where the strap meets the nose band, and the buckle. A muzzle is only as good as the weakest of the two.

Do not

Tumble dry it or leave it on a radiator, heat stiffens nylon webbing and stiff webbing chafes.

Storage

Loosely fastened rather than folded hard, so the nose band keeps its shape.
