Handheld Deshedding Tool for Dogs & Cats
Full Product Description
When loose undercoat starts turning up on every surface, a deshedding tool pulls more of it out while you brush. This one is a forged metal edge in a palm-sized body, and the same edge, turned over, scrapes water off a wet coat after a bath.
Two Jobs, One Edge
- Deshedding: Fine teeth along a 4.7 in edge lift dead undercoat out from under the topcoat.
- Water and sweat scraping: The smooth side pushes water off a soaked coat after a bath, which is how horse owners have used blades like this for decades. It cuts a long towel-dry down considerably on a thick-coated dog.
Why Pet Parents Love It
- Wide 4.7 in edge: Covers more coat per stroke than a narrow comb.
- Forged metal cutter head: The manufacturer specifies a high-hardness forged metal edge, not a stamped one.
- Mechanically fixed, not glued: The blade is attached to the handle with metal fixings, so it does not work loose in use.
- Palm-sized grip: A textured body you hold rather than a long handle to steer.
- Dogs, cats and horses: The manufacturer rates it for all three.
How to Use
- Work out any tangles first with an ordinary brush, a deshedding edge is not a dematting tool.
- Glide it in the direction of hair growth in short strokes. Let the teeth do it; do not press.
- Do not go back over the same patch repeatedly.
- Clear the collected hair off the teeth as you go.

Grooming Note
Deshedding tools are for undercoat. Keep off broken or irritated skin, keep sessions short with a pet who is new to it, and stop if the skin starts to look pink.

Care & Cleaning
How to keep it in good order, as the manufacturer states it.
After each session
Pull the collected hair off the teeth and wipe the edge dry. A metal blade left wet will mark.
Washing
Rinse the edge under warm water if it has been used on a wet or muddy coat, then dry it immediately and thoroughly.
Do not
Soak it or put it in a dishwasher. Water sitting in the joint between blade and body is what starts corrosion.
Storage
Dry, and with the teeth not pressed against anything hard.
A calmer grooming hour.
