After each walk
Tip out whatever is left and rinse the sphere and the cover. Water that has sat in a warm bag all afternoon is not water to offer again.
Weekly
Wash both parts in warm soapy water. The inside of the cover is the part that touches your dog's mouth, and the part people forget.
Drying
Leave the cover off so the inside of the sphere dries out. Stainless will not rust, but trapped water goes stale.
